I call her my real-life fairy. I think of her as an Earthly Angel. A guide, a guardian that was absolutely sent to me from the ether, because there is just no other way to properly articulate the magic she has brought into my life. Our connection came through an extension of her heart, her daughter.
Nearly twenty years ago, I started my very first job as an Activity Leader in an After-School Care Program. As I sat in one of the small tables reviewing the list of names of all the students that would be under my care, the classroom door flung open, time and space just stood still as I glanced over to these huge sun rays emanating from the doorframe, as Gyllian ran in complete slow motion directly towards me.
While my mind struggled to grasp what I was experiencing, I did not notice Gyl made herself quite comfortable on my lap and had her little arms already around me while expressing how much she loved me. Yes, children are infectious, but this was no ordinary encounter. Took me many, many years to learn this was in fact a soul-recognition.
If I thought my encounter with Gyl was special, Belkys' presence made me feel an all-encompassing Love, emphatic acceptance. Oh, so gently, slowly, lovingly, and patiently she showed me the way.
My soul was not ready to begin awakening to the call until a global pandemic shifted the energy of our planet. It was then, that I began seeking answers that felt more aligned with my heart. Answers that religious teachings, at my core I failed to accept as truths. I began diving deeper, and that is where my journey began.
Belkys, your unconditional Love, support, grace and sisterhood will be an infinite part of my soul. I know our bond transcends everything we hold as relative. I have expressed my gratitude millions of times in this lifetime, but I will continue every opportunity I get, in the hopes of you always feeling this Love returned to you in infinite ways.
